New name, date for chamber event

BRUCE ROSEN purchases the first two tickets for A Night with the Chamber, set for May 16, from Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Suzanne Larson. The theme for this year’s fundraising event, which replaces Casino Royale at the Ritz, is “A Murder Mystery Masquerade Gala.”

IRON MOUNTAIN — The annual fundraiser for the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce has a new date, venue, theme and name.

Registration is open now for A Night with the Chamber, formerly known as Casino Royale at the Ritz, set this year for May 16 rather than in March, said Suzanne Larson, chamber executive director.

“It’s really going to be exciting this year with all the fun changes our committee made to this year’s event,” Larson said.

The new theme will be “A Murder Mystery Masquerade Gala.” While raffles and auction prizes still will be a main attraction, this year a “murder-mystery” will be the center of attention during dinner. Participants also will be able to “buy clues” to help them solve the mystery of who is the killer.

“People who come to this event should bring a mask and expect to have a ton of fun as they try to figure out ‘who dun-it?'” Larson said. “Another thing people love about our event is that they have a semi-formal evening out, wearing their best attire, and that hasn’t changed.”

The event starts at 5 p.m. May 16 and goes until midnight at Pine Mountain Resort, N3332 Pine Mountain Road in Iron Mountain.

Ticket prices are at a tiered level, with a $5 discount at $75 each if bought before March 16, then $80 if purchased from March 16 to April 30 and $90 for “last chance” tickets from May 1 to 10. No tickets will be sold after May 10.

Only a limited number of tickets are available and are expected to sell out.

To purchase tickets, contact the chamber at 906-774-2002; Visa and Mastercard are accepted. Tickets can be reserved as well at www.dickinsonchamber.com.

This year, the title and co-sponsor is Laborers’ International Union of North America Local 1329. Any others interested in sponsoring should contact Larson at the chamber, 906-774-2002.

“A highlight of the event are the incredible scholarships we offer several students, provided by many sponsors,” Larson noted. “Without this event, these scholarships wouldn’t happen.”
