COVID-19 cases in region as of Saturday afternoon

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Upper Peninsula as of Saturday afternoon had 49 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including seven deaths, health officials said.

According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Menominee, Luce, Houghton and Chippewa counties each have a single COVID-19 case, with a death in Chippewa County; Schoolcraft County has two; Dickinson County had three cases and two deaths; Mackinac and Gogebic counties have four cases, with a death in Gogebic; Delta County has nine cases and a death; and Marquette County has 21 cases and two deaths.

The MDHHS also separately lists prison inmates as positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.

Iron, Keweenaw, Baraga, Alger and Ontonagon counties still have no positive cases so far.

The MDHHS reported 1,210 new COVID-19 cases in the state Saturday, with a total of 23,993 to date. The state had 111 new deaths for a total of 1,392 to date.

Dickinson County Healthcare System has reported three county residents have tested positive at its facilities, with two deaths, along with three positives from other counties. DCHS has tested 101 people for COVID-19, with six positive, 82 negative and 13 results still pending.

In Wisconsin, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site by county showed three positive cases in Marinette County and two positive in Florence County. Wisconsin’s Iron County has two cases with a death March 26. Forest County has yet to have a positive case with 24 tests done so far.
