Astrea to provide broadband internet for Three Lakes

IRON MOUNTAIN — Astrea, a division of CCI Systems Inc. of Iron Mountain will assume ownership of the broadband system in Three Lakes, Wis., from Karban TV Systems.

Astrea took over operations of the high-speed internet services currently provided to Three Lakes-area subscribers on Oct. 1.

“We’re excited to add the community of Three Lakes, Wisconsin, to the Astrea family. We wish John Karban, the departing owner, much happiness and health in his retirement,” said Cory Heigl, vice president of Astrea. “Three Lakes is a beautiful area, and we’re excited to invest in its future. Soon we will be launching new products and services to their community, including gigabit speeds.”

Astrea is committed to keeping small-town communities connected to the things and people they love by being reliable and responsive.

This acquisition will provide the opportunity for services to nearly 1,800 residential and business addresses in the Three Lakes area. Network upgrades are planned with tentative completion the first part of 2021.

Astrea is a division of CCI systems, a growing company headquartered out of Iron Mountain. CCI Systems employs hundreds of area residents who work daily to keep rural communities connected.

Astrea currently helps connect more than 60 small communities throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Wisconsin to family, health care, work, education and entertainment by providing high-speed internet along with TV and phone services.

Astrea has built an extensive infrastructure that offers Astrea communities unprecedented rural internet speed offerings ranging from 50 mbps up to 1 gig. Astrea maintains retail store locations in Crivitz, Wis., and Oconto Falls, Wis.
