IRON MOUNTAIN — Women’s clothing chain Christopher & Banks Corp. plans to close more than 400 stores by the end of February, including the Midtown Mall location in Iron Mountain.

The company announced it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy a result of financial distress from the pandemic. It will continue selling online.

Iron Mountain store manager Betty Viau said she was notified of the closure Thursday.

“I opened the store as manager 26 years ago, and will be closing the store as manager,” Viau said, adding, “I have had many great customers over the years — the loyalty has been unbelievable.”

Escanaba has the only other Christopher & Banks store in the Upper Peninsula.
