Norway band performs tonight

NORWAY — The Norway City Band will kick off its 129th season tonight at 7:30, at the historic Norway Band Shell, next to City Hall.

The band, made up of students and adults from across the area, will feature classic marches like “Rough Riders” and “Alamo” by King, patriotic medleys such as “Let Freedom Ring” by Huckeby and “Days of Glory” by Cacavas, along with fun pop tunes from “The Phantom of the Opera” by Webber and tunes of the Beach Boys. The band will feature its low brass section in the ever popular, “Them Basses” by Huffine.

The band will be guest directed by Logan Galindo, director of bands at Kingsford High School. Galindo is a 2019 graduate of NMU. The band is still looking to add members. If you play or used to play, and are 10th grade or beyond, there’s likely a spot for you.

Rehearsals and concerts alternate Tuesdays through to the beginning of August. Call Director Ed McBroom for more details or any other questions about the band at 906-396-6838.

Starting at $3.50/week.
