IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce has added 906 Quilting Services as a new member of the organization and recently gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to help celebrate a milestone for the owner.

At 535 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain, 906 Quilting offers a full line of services, including long-arm quilting, custom quilting, fabric and notions and educational programs.

The shop opened in 2018 with the focus on education for quilters, from beginner to expert.

Owner Kathy Clawson began sewing at a young age and has followed her passion for creating in textiles.

She attributes her love of sewing and quilting to her mother, who was a sewing teacher for many years in the Iron Mountain area. Education has remained her goal and to that end Clawson pursued her education with Westalee Design Rulers and Templates, becoming among 11 worldwide promoted as educators for Westalee. Each instructor is required to display a good understanding of both Sew Steady and Westalee Design products. There are currently more than 600 ruler designs and tools for domestic and long-arm machines. This offers domestic machine quilters the ability to produce their quilt from beginning to end.

Sew Steady, the mother company of Westalee, works with more than 2,000 retail stores worldwide to supply products, education and events using their tools. These products make quilting better, easier and more effortlessly creative.

Quilters are encouraged to watch for upcoming events at 906 Quilting or just stop in the shop. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday; appointments can be made as well. They can be contacted at 906-828-2693. Information also is available on their website at 906Quilting.com or Facebook page at 906 Quilting.
