IRON MOUNTAIN — The Community Living Center and long-term nursing facility at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain has been rated five out of five stars by VA’s Quality Rating System.

The facility took top scores in a recent strategic analysis of all VA long-term health care facilities in Veteran Integrated Service Network 12, a region that covers VA facilities in most of Wisconsin and parts of Illinois, Indiana and the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

“Our mission is to honor our veterans and provide exceptional healthcare that they deserve” said Daniela Den Boer, CLC nurse manager. “This validates our role in providing high-quality, resident-centered care for our veterans who depend on us.”

The analysis considered many aspects of care, using facility reporting over the past 10 quarters of each calendar year. Most of these periods were during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This goes to show that even during the one of the worst pandemics in recent history, we kept our veterans and employees safe,” said Zachary Sage, acting medical center director. “Our health care personnel make the difference, and I am proud of our people who put veterans above themselves.”
