Ribbon-cutting as amateur hockey association joins chamber
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed another addition to its more than 400 members: Dickinson Amateur Hockey Association.
They recently had a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Mountain View Ice Arena to mark the membership.
DAHA has been in the Iron Mountain area for 46 years. They are a non-profit youth hockey organization serving young athletes from ages 4 to 14. As members of District 8 of the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association, their teams travel to and host opponents from Houghton, Hancock, Calumet, Iron River, Escanaba, Manistique, Marquette, Tahquamenon and Munising.
Their athletes take part in fundraising throughout the season to assist with annual costs and have the opportunity to participate in off-ice training, tournaments both hosted and away, complimentary goalie clinics and USA Hockey officiating certification.
Many of their athletes aspire to develop their skills to advance their careers to high school and beyond. DAHA offers youth hockey, Learn to Play and “Try Hockey for Free” through USA Hockey.
DAHA encourages their community to visit Mountain View Ice Arena on any weekend from November through March to support their athletes.
