IRON MOUNTAIN — Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain again has received an “A” grade for patient safety from a national hospital watchdog organization.

This was the second marking period in a row that Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson, formerly Dickinson County Healthcare System, has received an A for patient safety. It marks the hospital’s 18th A grade over the past 20 survey periods since 2013.

The letter grades are awarded by The Leapfrog Group, an independent organization, and assigned to all hospitals across the country, assessing how well they prevent medical mistakes. An A is the highest grade possible for keeping patients safe from errors, injuries and infections.

“The consistency with which Marshfield-Dickinson has earned an ‘A’ grade speaks to the well-defined and proven safety protocols that are in place. This recognition also confirms our team’s professional, compassionate, and attentive care delivery practices. Congratulations to our team’s dedication to providing our patients the safest and highest quality care in the region,” said Chuck Nelson, president and chief operating officer-Michigan.

Marshfield Clinic Health System serves Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with more than 1,600 providers comprising 170 specialties, health plan, and research and education programs. Primary operations include more than 60 Marshfield Clinic locations, 11 hospitals, Marshfield Children’s Hospital, Marshfield Clinic Research Institute, Security Health Plan, and Marshfield Clinic Health System Foundation.
