IRON MOUNTAIN — Promoting and improving health and wellness in Dickinson County and the surrounding communities is a shared goal of Marshfield Medical Center Dickinson and Northern Lights YMCA Dickinson Center.

With those aligned values in mind, the two organizations have entered into a strategic partnership designed to enhance opportunities for health care, wellness and other programming.

“The mission of the YMCA includes the core values of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility,” Dickinson Center Director Ron Deuter said. “To have one of our area’s top healthcare providers step up and offer support toward those objectives is a huge win for everyone in our community. We’re grateful for the partnership and looking forward to being able to provide more for the community.”

Earlier this year, Marshfield Medical Center provided support to the YMCA’s annual free swim lessons program for third graders. The new major corporate partnership will continue that commitment as well as provide direct support for the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, Summer Day Camp and other YMCA special events.

All Marshfield Medical Center Dickinson employees will receive a 25% discount on YMCA membership as well as discounts on summer day camp enrollments. In addition, all YMCA members will have access to free quarterly biometric screenings and physical therapy consultations on site at the YMCA, conducted by Marshfield Medical Center staff. Also, Marshfield Medical Center patients requiring the use of a fitness center or pool as part of their rehabilitation or physical therapy will have the opportunity to obtain a free two-week trial membership at the Y.

“We are thrilled to be entering into this partnership with the YMCA,” said Mandy Shelast, president of MMC-D. “We believe in the mission of the YMCA and are proud to partner and help enhance their efforts to enrich the community.”
