EVART, Mich. -- Lume Cannibis Co. has made a $25,000 investment in the new Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson Cancer Center being developed in Iron Mountain.
When Lume launched in 2019, the company's focus and mission were on medical marijuana for those undergoing cancer treatment or facing other serious illnesses.
With a retail location at 119 S. Stephenson Ave. and processing facility in Iron Mountain, plus six other stores throughout the Upper Peninsula, Lume remains dedicated to giving back to the communities it serves.
"Providing relief to people suffering from cancer has been a core part of our mission at Lume Cannabis from day one," said Doug Hellyar, the company's president and COO.
Lume's donation to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson will go toward the facility's $3 million capital campaign. The 8,000-square-foot cancer center, slated to open this year, will increase capacity for chemotherapy services, along with providing a more patient-friendly environment. The center aims to bring a variety of cancer care under one roof.
"We are truly thankful to join with community partners like Lume as we take steps toward the opening our new cancer center," said Mandy Shelast, MCHS Michigan Region president. "Philanthropic offerings like this allow us to add amenities further elevating the comfort and care our patients receive."
