IRON MOUNTAIN — A downtown Iron Mountain establishment is back for a second round.

Round 2 Bar & Grill at 407 S. Stephenson Ave. has been providing a fun time along with good food and drinks since last November.

Formerly The Blind Pig, the business was operated by Round 2 Bar & Grill owners Lori and Brad Staedt’s daughter, Brittany Linsmeyer. It was doing well until it became a casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Stephenson Avenue location has been a bar consistently since the Prohibition speak-easy era.

“The response so far has been good. We have had very good feedback for our food,” Lori Staedt said. “Everybody is glad to see the bar back open. It was a very busy bar before.”

Round 2 Bar & Grill has a video game theme as a tribute to Lori Staedt’s father, Lewis Stark, who recently passed and for several years owned and serviced vending machines and arcade games. Staedt remember growing up with the machines in the house.

The bar had some redecorating before reopening. In addition to the games being brought in, a brighter paint scheme was done over the black and red used for The Blind Pig.

Round 2 Bar & Grill opened on the downtown Girl’s Night Out event in November and since has drawn not just the younger crowd but those nostalgic for the vintage video games featured at the business.

Despite having a small kitchen, Round 2 Bar & Grill has several food offerings, including grilled cheese sandwiches, macaroni and cheese and nachos.

The menu stays true to the video game theme, with the sandwiches named the Pig Out, Double Cheese, Asteroids, Pooka and Toad.

There are also weekly menu specials, such as this week’s Cuban grilled cheese. Saturday nights feature tacos.

The drink menu at Round 2 Bar & Grill is video game-themed as well, with drinks such as the Frogger, Ms. Pac-Man and Sonic. The drink menu also features five different kinds of Long Islands.

Round 2 Bar & Grill has nightly drink special, with Wednesdays being gentlemen’s night and Thursdays ladies’ night.

For those not wanting alcohol or perhaps bringing a child in for food and video games, Round 2 has a soda bar with tasty mocktails — all of the signature drinks can be turned into mocktails as well. Bartender Alex Wikaa said the soda bar, introduced a month ago, has become quite popular.

Those who enjoy vintage video games can play one of two pinball machines, a multi-game machine with many old favorites. Another machine has the games Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. In addition, Round 2 Bar & Grill has a Sega gaming system set up that can be played free of charge.

Also free of charge is the shuffleboard game and many vintage board games, the pool table is also free on Wednesday nights.

Lori Staedt said that Round 2 Bar & Grill has begun to offer entertainment with karaoke every other Friday night. Singer Melanie Rose will be at Round 2 Bar & Grill on May 22. Fridays and Saturdays have bingo starting at 10 p.m., with prizes such as Round 2 Bar & Grill can koozies and cups.

Round 2 Bar & Grill is open for lunch 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 5 p.m. to close Tuesday through Saturday. Delivery is available through DoorDash — to order, call 906-828-1698.
