Northern Lights Master Gardeners Spring Plant Sale slated on Saturday
MARINETTE, Wis. — The annual Spring Plant Sale hosted by the Northern Lights Master Gardeners Association Inc. will take place from 9 am. to noon Saturday at Harmony Arboretum.
The plant sale will feature a wide selection of plants grown and donated by members of NLMGA. Plants at Harmony ready to be divided will also be available for sale and will be dug during the plant sale.
This year’s offerings include annuals, vegetables, perennials, herbs, native plants, and house plants.
All proceeds go toward public educational programs and improvements to facilitate learning at Harmony Arboretum and throughout Marinette County.
Vouchers from the Wild Rivers Invasive Species Coalition Trade-Up Days can be redeemed for native plants at the Plant Sale. Landowners can bring in invasive shrubs like Japanese Barberry, Buckthorn, and honeysuckle to drop-off at the Northern Lights Plant Sale and receive a $10 voucher for each one — up to $100.
Many members of NLMGA will be available to provide insight into growing and designing outdoor living spaces, as well as recommend plants that would work in those spaces.
While at Harmony Arboretum, children and adults can take advantage of exploring the Children’s Learning Garden or admiring the demonstration gardens, the herb and fragrance garden, the prairie and Harmony hardwoods. They conduct many nature and education programs for children and adults now through the fall months.
Northern Lights Master Gardeners maintain the Demonstration Gardens at Harmony Arboretum and conduct horticultural education programs for the public.
The public is always welcome. Harmony Arboretum is a 468 acre former “county farm” that has been developed into a conservation and horticulture education and demonstration area. It is located 7 miles west of Marinette on Highway 64 or 10.5 miles from Highway 141 on Highway 64; then a half mile south on County E. For more information contact northernlightsmgv@gmail.com.
