Cardiologist joins U.P. Health System

MARQUETTE – Christine Rattin, D.O., board certified cardiologist, has joined the Upper Peninsula Health System Heart and Vascular Institute in Marquette.

Dr. Rattin comes to Marquette from Oklahoma Heart Hospital Physicians, Oklahoma City. She began practicing at UPHS on Feb. 9, seeing patients in Marquette, Newberry and Sault Ste. Marie.

“I am excited to be returning home to the U.P. and joining a great team at UPHS,” said Dr. Rattin. “Having lived and worked in Marquette previously, I am aware of the hospital’s commitment to quality patient care and look forward to carrying on that proud tradition.”

“I am eager to begin work with the cardiovascular team and their dedication to providing cutting-edge options for the prevention and treatment of heart disease to the residents of the U.P., and I look forward to reconnecting with the community and having the opportunity to help care for family and friends, both old and new,” she added.

Dr. Rattin joins UPHS Heart and Vascular Institute cardiologists Dr. Mark Cowan, Dr. Kris Dosh, Dr. Rudy Evonich, Dr. Gary Friesen, Dr. Nelson Gencheff, Dr. William Jean, Dr. Thomas LeGalley, Dr. John Pap, and Dr. David Pesola.

According to Ed Bano, chief executive officer of UPHS-Marquette, Dr. Rattin joining the medical staff demonstrates a commitment by the regional tertiary care center to recruit the finest medical specialists to serve the U.P. region.

“With Dr. Rattin’s exceptional medical credentials and her close ties to the U.P., we feel U.P. Health System is indeed fortunate to have her join our medical staff,” he added.

In January 2014, UPHS-Marquette initiated a cardiovascular affiliation with Duke Medicine. This affiliation links the UPHS Heart and Vascular Institute, the most comprehensive in the U.P., with the Duke Heart Center.
