New radiologist joins DCHS staff

IRON MOUNTAIN – Brian Shukri, DO, a native of the Detroit area, is the latest addition to the team of radiologists at Dickinson Memorial Hospital.

He brings expertise in neuroradiology to the department as he just completed Fellowship training at the University of Colorado – Anschutz Campus in Aurora, Colo. Neuroradiology is a specialty that deals with diagnosing a variety of medical problems within the brain. Dr. Shukri will also provide interventional radiology procedures.

Dr. Shukri obtained his bachelor of science degree in human biology from East Lansing-based Michigan State University in 2003. After spending two years exploring the world of business as president and partner of Skylink Mobile Telecommunications in Ann Arbor, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his father and enter the field of medicine.

He attained his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. By 2010, Dr. Shukri had completed an internship program at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills and by 2014, he had completed a four-year residency program in diagnostic radiology through Michigan State University.

“As a medical student I was fascinated with the field of radiology because of the technology behind it,” commented Dr. Shukri. “I chose to further specialize in neuroradiology because the brain is the most complex and critical area of human anatomy. As a radiologist, I am here to provide accurate and reliable diagnoses to referring physicians so they can determine the best course of treatment for their patients.”

“I am very happy for this opportunity at Dickinson Memorial Hospital and am excited to be part of the Iron Mountain community,” Dr. Shukri commented. “I am working on becoming a Yooper.”
