IMHS graduate opens Paul Mitchell salon in Manistique

MANISTIQUE – Ashley Winkel has opened her own fully licensed Paul Mitchell Salon, Studio 906, located in downtown Manistique at 232 S. Cedar St.

Winkel has a keen interest in restoring old Manistique with modern touches in dcor, electronics, technologies and most of all in products and service.

She graduated from Iron Mountain High School and is the daughter of Kirk Fortner of Iron Mountain.

Studio 906 will be a two chair salon with softer lighting adding to the relaxed atmosphere.

“Our philosophy is to spend quality one-on-one time with our clients offering them true personalized service where they can come and unwind and enjoy being pampered. Our goal is to give them the ultimate experience in personalized service and care,” she said.

Born into a family of entrepreneurs and one that doesn’t believe you have to leave small town USA to become a success, Winkel is staying true to her family’s legacy. From her grandfather, to her father and to her mother, who currently owns an insurance company right next door to the new salon.

“I’m looking forward to presenting a full menu of services from hair care, to manicures, pedicures, waxing, tanning, awesome package rates for special events including weddings and a few fun surprises along the way,” said Winkel.
