Martinson named Bay TORCH award winner

ESCANABA – Lynn Martinson has been named Bay College’s quarterly, from September through November 2015, TORCH Award winner.

Martinson is recognized for her work at Bay College.

As noted in the nomination, it states that, “Lynn was nominated for this award because of the work she put into the Bay College Foundation Audit. She assisted in organizing and automating the financials surrounding the Bay College Foundation.”

“While without a CFO, Lynn and her supervisor, Ann Valiquette, worked diligently to understand the underpinnings of the Foundation, provided financial reports for the Foundation Board meetings, generated donor reports, and automated a considerable amount of the donor fund allocating process,” the nomination further stated.

“This incredible advancement was due to Lynn’s tenacity, team approach, and outstanding performance. She has remained open and willing to strive ahead as a team with the Foundation to create more automation and linkages wherever possible,” the nomination concluded.

The purpose of the TORCH Award is to give personal recognition to those employees on Bay College’s campuses dedicated to the mission of the College. They are being recognized because of their attitude, commitment, and dedication toward the higher education learning environment.

TORCH stands for: Team Player; Outstanding Performance; Responsive to Others; Conscientious to Mission of Bay; Helpful to All.

This award is given to one employee on a quarterly basis. Nominations are accepted from employees, students and the community.
