Open house Oct. 3 at Rainbow Gifts, Rainbow’s End Alpacas

NORWAY – Rainbow Gifts & Rainbow’s End Alpacas will be celebrating seven years in business with its annual open house on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The business is located on the west side of Norway at W6139 U.S. 2.

Owners Mary Lynn and Dave Verley and their alpacas invite the public to come and join the celebration, which is free to attend.

Mary Lynn said that visitors are drawn to the alpacas that live on the premises and often like to take some of their beautiful fiber home with them in the form of yarn.

“Alpacas are a gentle loving creature that draws everyone in with their big brown eyes,” she said. “You’ll see them grazing peacefully in the fields talking to each other with a gentle hum.”

During store hours at any time of the year, visitors can access a vending machine filled with treats for the animals.

In addition to viewing alpacas, visitors can stop in at Rainbow Gifts & Yarn, a store filled with unique quality apparel and yarn goods.

Merchandise includes everything from sweaters, hats, mittens, scarves, children’s wear, to the most popular item, socks.

“Alpaca is known for its softness and warmth,” said Mary Lynn. “It is hypoallergenic, five times warmer than wool, very soft, flame retardant, durable, and with care, will last a lifetime.”

The store also houses many commercial yarns, as well as its own Rainbow’s Gold yarn. Knitters and crocheters will find supplies and classes ranging from beginner to advanced.

“Many people are shy about coming up our ‘driveway’ but please don’t be,” said Mary Lynn. “There is a road that goes around the side of the house that will bring you to the back to the world of alpaca.”
