DUNBAR, Wis. – Four months have passed since Lynne and Randy Sippel became the new owners of Richards Supper Club and Motel on Highway 8 in Dunbar.

They were familiar with the two establishments for more than 30 years due to spending vacations at a cabin in the area owned by Randy’s parents Tom and Kay who helped with the renovations and cleaning before the re-opening.

What especially attracted them to purchase the well-known Richards Supper Club and Motel is the location. Situated in the Wisconsin northwoods, the buildings are right on Highway 8. This brings many vacationers who enjoy 4-wheeling the excellent trails, as well as people who hunt, fish, snowmobile or simply delight in the sights created by Mother Nature in the area.

Those who choose to utilize the motel especially appreciate that they have a short walk across the parking lot right to the restaurant and the ATV trails. With the Sippels’ decision to become the new owners, area residents are able to once again have a business that improves the economic status of the area. Best of all, it allows employment for local people.

The Sippels welcome applicants who believe in assisting them to create a wonderful experience for all visitors. The goal for the new owners is to establish their own style and quality of experience in a friendly atmosphere.

In taking over the business, they redid all the restaurant floors and repainted the bar area. A new air conditioning system was installed, and before winter arrives, the building’s outside will be painted.

In addition, all 15 motel rooms were completely refurbished and the septic system was repaired. The roof of the motel will also be replaced. One of the first improvements the Sippels made at the complex was to provide marked handicapped parking spaces right at the entrance to the restaurant.

Another plan for the parking lot is to update the long-standing Richards sign, keeping the basic design, but providing some revisions. In the lower level of the restaurant is the Holly Room, which can accommodate 50-75 people, featuring a full bar and food menu, a pool table, and video games. The area is well-designed for small banquets, weddings, and other small gatherings like to celebrate Packer Games with other fans.

The motel is busy especially on weekends. They note that ATV riders especially like to come earlier in the week because the trails are groomed on Sundays and Mondays allowing them to avoid the busy weekend trails.
