McCarty appointed CEO of Northpointe Systems

KINGSFORD – Jennifer McCarty has been promoted to chief executive officer of Northpointe, a community mental health center for Dickinson, Iron, and Menominee counties, according to an announcement by the Northpointe Behavioral Healthcare Systems board of directors.

“We are pleased to have Jennifer as our new CEO. She has excellent knowledge of mental health and Northpointe, with a background in providing client care as both a worker and supervisor in the Northpointe system,” noted John Nelson, Northpointe board chair.

“Jennifer has demonstrated the ability to work with community partners, essential in providing quality service. The Northpointe Board of Directors would also like to thank Bill Adrian for his work as interim CEO,” he added.

McCarty received her master’s degree in social Work from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and has been employed by Northpointe since 2007. She was the assertive community treatment team leader and a clinical care manager before becoming the Menominee county director in 2012.

As the county director, she supervised and directed the clinical and daily operations of the office, while collaborating with essential community partners.

McCarty has always been a supporter of evidence-based practices and facilitated supervision for Family Psychoeducation (FPE) Group Clinicians for all community mental health agencies in the Upper Peninsula and provided clinical supervision for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Northpointe’s three counties.

She has also provided training regionally and state-wide for FPE clinicians. In her role as county director, McCarty expanded services in the Menominee County area including the development of a Clubhouse psychosocial rehabilitation program, addition of a clinical office site in Powers, and securing a contract with Anthony House for crisis residential services.

She and her husband, Tom, are in the process of relocating to the Kingsford area with their son, Liam.
