IMKCFCU taps five for board of directors
KINGSFORD –Five people recently were unanimously elected to the Iron Mountain Kingsford Community Federal Credit Union board of directors at the annual meeting.
— Steve Mulka has been an IMKCFCU member since 1979. His experience includes 25 years working at the City of Kingsford Public Safety Department, nine years as union steward, 10 years as supervisor and 14 years as a certified firefighter instructor. Mulka currently is Iron Mountain’s planning, zoning and code administrator. He also heads the Department of Community Planning and Development. He attended Bay De Noc and Northern Michigan University.
— Nick Blagec has been an IMKCFCU member since the early 1960s. He worked for Reinhart Food Service for 26 years before retiring in 2010. Blagec’s outside activities include 33 years with the Kiwanis Ski Club, 25 years as president. While in ski club, he helped turn the club from red to black.
— Linda Opsahl has been an IMKCFCU member since adolescence. She has served on the Florence County School Board, where she learned about finance, business and community responsibility. Opsahl is a nurse practitioner at UP Health System in Kingsford. She earned an practical nursing degree at Bay de Noc Community College, an associate of science degree in nursing at Lake Superior State University, bachelor’s and master’s of science degrees in nursing at Northern Michigan University and her doctorate in nursing practice from Oakland University.
— Donna Peterson has previously served on the IMKCFCU board for six years as well as the supervisory committee. Peterson has a master of business administration from the University of Dubuque, with a concentration in finance. She graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Past jobs include accounting officer at Lennox Employees Credit Union, accountant at Marshalltown Trowel and director of physician support services and cost accountant at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Peterson now is IMKCFCU board secretary.
— Cindy Metras bring more than 18 years of experience in accounting. She has a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Lake Superior University as well as a master of business administration, finance major, from Lakeland University. Metras spent 18 years as plant controller at Specialty Granules, Inc. in Pembine, Wis. Before that, she managed accounting, cash, payroll and collection operations at CSA Air, Inc. at the Ford Airport.
