IRON MOUNTAIN — Scott Sanders Agency Farm Bureau Insurance and the Sanders family recently made $1,000 donations to the Kiwanis Aktion Club and the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center.

The Kiwanis Aktion Club plans to use the money for an exhibit at the new Imagination Factory Kiwanis Children’s Museum opening this fall. The club wants to build a small log cabin for children to use as a quiet place to read.

“Aktion Club is dedicated to service and fellowship and members are enthusiastically looking forward to providing leadership at the children’s museum,” said Susie Fox, Aktion Club adviser.

Aktion Club president Brian Nord is Scott and Shannon Sanders’ son.

The Kiwanis Aktion Club is for individuals age 18 and older who have health challenges. They meet each month, now at the new Our Place Community Center, 217 W. Hughitt St.

REPRESENTATIVES OF THE Scott Sanders Agency Farm Bureau Insurance donate $1,000 to the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center to support veteran activities. From left are Katie Maxon, the VA’s chief of voluntary service; daughter Bryonna Sanders; son Brian Nord; and parents Shannon and Scott Sanders.

The donations stem from a company benefit, and the agency opted to have the family decide where the funds would go.

Daughter Bryonna Sanders chose the VA in memory of her papa, Frank Jirik, and nana, VA retiree Debra Gendren, both Army veterans. The donation will be used for activities in the VA’s Community Living Center, including potentially investing in a virtual reality system to engage residents.

Sanders and his wife both work at the agency at 1001 Carpenter Ave.
