Talking tourism in IM

Adam Holroyd, owner of Contrast Coffee, was the keynote speaker for the Downtown Tourism Conference on Tuesday in Iron Mountain. The Downtown Development Authority teamed with Bay West, Michigan State University Extension and the Tourism Association of the Dickinson County Area to put on the event at Bay West, with breakout sessions at various downtown locations. Sessions focused on marketing and branding, downtown development, outdoor recreation and policy strategies. Speakers included Bob LaFave of the Village of L’Anse DDA; Robert Micheau, executive director of Visit Escanaba; Will Cronin of the MSU Extension FIT program; Amy Nosal and Neil Klemme of the Iron County Youth and Young Professionals; Brad Neumann and Mia Tavonatti of the Power of Words Project murals; Paula Craven, Iron Mountain DDA, Parker Jones, MSU Extension innovation counselor; Garrett Ziegler, Extension community food systems educator; Brian Wibby, Extension educator; Evan Blagec of True North Outpost; Chad Susott of the Dickinson Trail Network; and Rebecca Frans and Liz Slajus, master gardeners.
