Olson adds tree service equipment

QUINTIN OLSON ENTERPRISES LLC has purchased several pieces of tree service equipment from Cagles Tree Service. Shown are Lori Cagle, owner of Cagles Tree Service, and Quintin Olson, along with the Cagle family’s springer spaniel, Duke, and the pull-behind basket lift.

QUINNESEC — Quintin Olson’s business recently got a boost when he was able to acquire several pieces of equipment from the former Cagles Tree Service.

Olson said the stump grinder, mini-excavator, chipper and pull-behind basket lift will allow Quintin Olson Enterprises LLC to provide many of the same services that Cagles had offered in the area.

Those include tree removal, trimming, stump grinding, chipping, excavation and skid steer work, Olson said.

Cagles Tree Service and the Cagle family suffered a blow in mid-May when Glenn “Rip” Cagle died unexpectedly at age 60. They are no longer in business and selling all of the equipment, said his wife, Lori Cagle.

“I had known Glenn for a number of years and I was able to spend more time getting to know him, his wife, Lori, and his son Chad over this past winter. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know the Cagle family more and I have always had a great respect for Glenn,” Olson said. “I am looking forward to continuing the commitment to customer service Glenn held himself to and doing the best job possible to serve each customer’s unique needs.”

“This will give him a good start,” Lori Cagle said.

Olson said he has an existing firewood business that will benefit from the new equipment as well.

His father owned a logging truck business, so Olson said he’s been in the woods since first grade and “been around trees most of my life.”

The 33-year-old did some similar work as a Dickinson County employee before starting this venture. His wife, Megan, will handle bookkeeping and other office duties.

Olson can be reached at 906-250-1827.
