IRON MOUNTAIN — Cori Rice and Beth Provencher of Northern Michigan Dance Academy have been certified in the Barre Intensity fitness method.

Not to be confused with ballet or yoga, Barre Intensity is fitness training that combines low impact, intense strength and cardio training using free weights, mats and of course, the ballet barre, along with upbeat music and motivational instruction. The two studied in Milford, Michigan with master barre instructor Elyssa Sardy.

A modified barre fitness class, Barre 101, will be taught by Provencher, instructor and owner of NMDA.

For schedules and prices, go to northernmichigandanceacademy.com or contact Provencher at 906-774-8647. Registration is required. Classes began Sept. 3.
