MIAMISBURG, Ohio — Verso Corp. announced Friday its board of directors has elected CEO Adam St. John to serve also as the company’s president, effective immediately, replacing Michael A. Weinhold, who resigned.

Weinhold had been president since November, reporting to St. John.

In another move, the board has elected Aaron D. Haas as senior vice president, sales and marketing. In this position, Haas joins the company’s senior leadership team, with responsibility for leading the company’s strategic and tactical sales and marketing initiatives.

“On behalf of our senior leadership team, I am extremely pleased to have Aaron lead our sales and marketing organization,” St. John said. “Aaron has a proven exceptional ability to lead various teams within Verso and has extensive paper industry knowledge and sales and marketing experience.

Haas has a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and a bachelor’s degree from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis.

Verso’s mills in Escanaba; Quinnesec; Duluth, Minn.; and Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; have a combined annual production capacity of 2 million tons of paper. St. John is a former manager at the Quinnesec pulp and paper mill.

Last month, Verso completed the sale of its Stevens Point, Wis., mill and its Androscoggin Mill in Jay, Maine, to Pixelle Specialty Solutions as part of a $400 million deal.
