Professional courses offered at Bay West

IRON MOUNTAIN –Bay College West Campus and Northern Initiatives-Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center are working together to deliver professional development training opportunities to the Upper Peninsula.

This collaboration allows for a widespread effort to provide trainings based on industry partners’ needs and sourcing qualified trainers to deliver engaging content that strengthens and develops the U.P. workforce.

Classroom training opportunities with instructor Cedric Calhoun include Negotiation Skills on Tuesday and Thursday, priced at $425; Meeting Facilitation on Sept. 21, priced at $115; and Time Management on Nov. 2, also priced at $115.

Distance learning offerings includes a 40-hour Applied Project Management program beginning on Oct. 7 and concluding Dec. 16. The training is priced at $2,350 and satisfies the educational requirements needed to sit for the Project Management Professional certification exam. This 10-week training will meet on Wednesdays and is instructed by Karen Goike, senior business advisor in MMTC’s Traverse City office.

Additionally, Lean Office Practitioner training will be offered virtually beginning on Oct. 14 and concluding on Nov. 6. This four-week training will meet on Wednesdays and Fridays. It is priced at $1,199 and is instructed by Rob Summers and Kevin Olds, both senior business advisors for manufacturing also through MMTC in Traverse City.

For in-classroom training, Bay College is following the health and safety requirements set by MIOSHA and the governor’s office.
