First National Bank & Trust promotes VPs Kassin, Lutz

RUSSELL KASSIN

IRON MOUNTAIN — First National Bank & Trust has promoted Russell Kassin and Matthew Lutz.

Kassin has been named executive vice president, chief lending officer. He will oversee all lending functions as well as develop new commercial and residential loan business. 

Kassin graduated from Northern Michigan University with a degree in personal finance, then from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He has obtained Series 7 and Series 66 health and life insurance licenses and the Certified Financial Planner designation. He previously worked with Lincoln Financial and Wells Fargo and has been with First National Bank & Trust for nine years.

He has been active in the community as an executive board member of the Dickinson Area Economic Development, chair of the Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance, Iron Mountain Academic Booster Club, Kiwanis member and past president, and also serves on the boards for Care Free Dental, Bay College West Advisory Board.

Lutz becomes senior vice president, chief financial officer, responsible for the bank’s overall financial management, including developing and implementing the organization’s financial strategies, planning and evaluating the bank’s fiscal function, internal and external financial reporting and managing the bank’s credit risk department.

MATTHEW LUTZ

Lutz obtained his undergraduate degree in economics and management from Albion College, a master of science in accounting degree from Marquette University, is a graduate of the Financial Managers School at the University of Wisconsin, and is a certified public accountant.  He was a tax associate at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause in Chicago before working as a senior accountant for Leaf, Dahl and Company.

Lutz joined First National Bank & Trust as a credit analyst in 2014 and was promoted to controller in 2016.

He is involved with several non-profit community organizations, including the Habitat for Humanity Menominee River and Iron Mountain Road and Trail while serving on the boards of the Bay College Advisory Board for Accounting, The Chippewa Club, Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce, Mountain View Ice Arena. He is treasurer of the Dickinson Area Community Foundation and president of the Dickinson Chamber Ambassadors.

Lutz is a member of the Michigan Association of CPAs, and Financial Managers Society. He also is on numerous scholarship committees and active with many local sports organizations.
