FNB promotes Grenier to VP, business banking manager

Cole Grenier

IRON MOUNTAIN — Cole Grenier of Iron Mountain has been promoted to vice president, business banking manager at First National Bank & Trust.

“We are pleased to announce this well-deserved promotion and to recognize Cole for his outstanding performance and commitment to the bank and our community,” said Russell Kassin, president and CEO of First National Bank & Trust.

In his new role, Grenier will oversee all aspects of the bank’s business banking department. His responsibilities include growing the commercial loan portfolio, supervising employee workload, coaching and developing existing bankers, addressing customer and employee needs, and managing departmental expenses and fee collection.

A native of Iron Mountain, Grenier graduated from Northern Michigan University in December 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He began his career at First National Bank & Trust in 2014 as a summer student teller and joined the bank full time as a credit analyst after graduation. He was promoted to commercial lender in 2019 and to assistant vice president, commercial lender in 2022.

Grenier is a graduate of the Michigan Bankers Association Commercial Lending School and is currently in his first year of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. This intensive three-year program includes annual classroom instruction in Madison, Wis., along with multiple applied projects each year.

Grenier and his wife, Katelynn, live in Iron Mountain with their two children, Addilynn and Jackson. He is actively involved in the community, serving as financial secretary at Trinity United Methodist Church; a board member and treasurer of the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce; a chamber ambassador; a board member and treasurer of the Upper Peninsula Travel & Recreation Association; and board president of 51st State Bucks.

When asked what he enjoys most about his career at First National Bank & Trust, Grenier said, “Most importantly — the people. There is a reason First National Bank & Trust has served our area for nearly 140 years. We pride ourselves on being a community bank and doing what is in the best interest of our customers. As for our employees, there is a reason we have multiple team members with more than 40 years of experience. The bank not only cares about us as employees, but also about our lives outside of work. My goal is to be one of those employees with over 40 years of service.”

First National Bank & Trust is among the oldest and largest independently owned banks in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Chartered in 1887, First National is a full-service, FDIC federally insured bank providing five banking locations in Iron Mountain, Kingsford, Menominee and Iron River.
