LANSING -- The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs' Bureau of Community and Health Systems this month launched the new Michigan State Licensing System, a modernized platform designed to streamline internal processes and make it easier for health care providers to complete licensure activities.
MI-SLS-covered providers include county medical care facilities, freestanding surgical outpatient facilities, homes for the aged, hospice agencies and residences, hospitals, nursing homes, psychiatric hospitals and units and substance use disorder services programs.
"MI-SLS represents a significant step forward in how we serve Michigan's health care providers," Marlon Brown, director of LARA, said in a news release. "By updating our licensing infrastructure, we're making it easier for providers to focus on what they do best: patient care."
"The enhanced MI-SLS system demonstrates LARA's continued focus on improving efficiency, accessibility, and the overall experience of licensed health care facilities, agencies, and substance use disorder programs statewide," said Larry Horvath, director of the Bureau of Community and Health Systems.
With the updated licensing system --
-- All licenses will be assigned a new number.
-- Licenses can be printed directly from the new system once released. The printable license and the Verify a License website will reflect the new license number. The print center will no longer be utilized to obtain license copies.
