New business Acorn and Iris welcomed in downtown IM

IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Acorn and Iris to the business community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the store at 110 E. B St. in downtown Iron Mountain.

Chamber ambassadors, community members and local business representatives gathered to celebrate owner Marina Roesselet's new business, which offers an eclectic mix of gifts, accessories, vintage items, collectibles and other unique finds, according to a chamber news release.

Roesselet brings six years of retail experience from Milwaukee, where she previously owned and operated a store. Her son and daughter-in-law have since taken over that business, allowing her to begin a new chapter in life in the Upper Peninsula.

The decision to move to Iron Mountain came after Roesselet spent time searching for a smaller community.

"I wanted to get away from the big city," she said. "I looked all over northern Wisconsin and eventually crept this way. When I found a house in Iron Mountain, I decided this was where I wanted to be. I'm here to stay."

Acorn and Iris offers a little bit of everything. The store features jewelry and accessories, scarves, winter hats, incense, incense burners, sage, vintage items, collectible beer cans, and many other unexpected treasures.

The shopping experience is just as distinctive as the merchandise. Acorn and Iris occupies more than five rooms, including hallways, with merchandise displayed from floor to ceiling.

"There is a little bit of everything in the store," Roesselet said. "There is so much to see, and I really want people to come in, take their time, and enjoy looking around. You never know what you're going to find."

With its wide variety of merchandise, Acorn and Iris offers shoppers a unique destination for gifts, accessories, collectibles, and one-of-a-kind finds. They will even make gift baskets for businesses to use as incentives, Christmas gifts or for any occasion.

"We're excited to welcome Marina and Acorn and Iris to the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce," said Suzanne Larson, chamber executive director/CEO. "Marina has brought a really fun and unexpected shopping experience to downtown Iron Mountain. There is so much to discover in her store, and it's clear that Marina has a passion for what she does. We're thrilled she chose Iron Mountain as the place to begin this next chapter."

For Roesselet, becoming part of the Iron Mountain community is an important part of her new beginning, she said in the release. "I'm excited to be here and look forward to getting to know the community," she said.
