Blotter to provide orthopedic care at Aspirus IR, Keweenaw

IRON RIVER/LAURIUM -- Dr. Robert Blotter has joined the Aspirus orthopedic care team, providing services at Aspirus Iron River Hospital and Clinics in Iron River and Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Clinics in Laurium in the Upper Peninsula.

Before pursuing his orthopedic training, Blotter was a Navy flight surgeon with the U.S. Marine Corps. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency in Sacramento, Calif., he served at the Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan, before relocating to Michigan's Upper Peninsula more than 25 years ago. He earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio, and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Blotter is a familiar physician throughout the Upper Peninsula. During his career, he has served as an orthopedic surgeon, chief of staff, vice chief of staff and head of the orthopedic trauma service at UP Health System - Marquette. He also provided outreach services at UP Health System - Bell and OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

He specializes in general orthopedics and total joint replacement.

"Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping people regain function and improve their quality of life," Blotter said. "The Upper Peninsula has been my home and the community I have proudly served for many years. I am excited to join Aspirus and continue providing orthopedic care close to home for patients throughout the region."
