NORWAY -- Eight decades of flowers, plants and serving the community will be celebrated Saturday as Danielson's Greenhouse and Floral marks its 80th anniversary.
The public is invited to join the festivities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the business at 130 Brown St. in Norway.
Danielson's was founded in 1946 by Bob and Wanda Danielson. Today, the business continues to provide area residents with flowers, plants, gifts and other seasonal items.
"This year, Danielson's has been in business for 80 years and we felt the special occasion should be recognized with a party," said owner Erica Land, who purchased the business four years ago.
Land has planned a variety of activities for the anniversary celebration, giving customers a chance to enjoy the greenhouse while checking out some of the vendors and products at the shop.
Danielson's will create a fresh floral bar for customers. "Everyone is welcome to make their own bouquets," Land said.
Visitors also can try their hand at tie-dyeing T-shirts.
Several local artisans will set up throughout the greenhouse, creating what Land described as a "mini farmers market." Vendors will offer a variety of handmade and specialty items, including candles, jewelry, suncatchers, wind chimes, crocheted stuffed animals, cactus propagations and crystals.
O.M.GIGI Boutique will offer permanent jewelry throughout the day, while That Henna Girl will provide henna art. Prices start at $10.
"Some people really get some custom work done that's quite extensive," Land said.
Kate's Coffee Co. of Sagola will be on hand as well serving specialty beverages.
"They are a new business -- I'm excited to have them," she said.
Land said customers will have an opportunity to see some of the new products being added to Danielson's gift shop. One of the new vendors includes Stagg Farms with honey and syrup.
"It's an opportunity to see what's new in our shop," Land said.
A raffle for a Danielson's gift certificate will also be held, and shoppers will have an opportunity to draw for a percentage off their purchase.
The greenhouse will feature its selection of fall plants, including an ample supply of mums for seasonal decorating.
"We carry a large variety of houseplants, vases and pots," she said.
Bryan Drewyor of One Human Band will perform from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the greenhouse.
Cake will be available for guests, and a selfie station will provide another way for visitors to capture memories of the anniversary celebration.
Land said the event is a way to honor the business's long history while also showcasing what Danielson's has today.
After 80 years in the community, the business continues to grow and evolve during the four seasons.
"We are looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday at the celebration," Land said.
