A North Dickinson County High School alumnus now in downstate Michigan was among the 50 finalists for the 2026 Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence, which honors outstanding public school skilled trade teachers nationwide.
Jeff Rittenhouse is the building trades teacher with the South & West Washtenaw Consortium, or SWWC. He is based at Chelsea High School in Saline, Mich.
The son of Donald and June Beauchamp-Rittenhouse was born in Iron Mountain and attended school in Niagara, Wis., before going to North Dickinson in Felch Township, where he was salutatorian of the Class of 1984. He received a scholarship to Michigan Technological University, then graduated from the University of Michigan. He and his wife, Katie Marshall-Rittenhouse, have five children and five grandchildren.
