Virus count up by 4 in UP
State data Tuesday showed four new confirmed COVID-19 positives and no new deaths in the Upper Peninsula.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website listed two more cases in Houghton County and one each in Marquette and Chippewa counties.
Using only the figures from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website, the Upper Peninsula as of Tuesday has had 20,087 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 440 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 226 confirmed cases and 255 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 323 confirmed, 196 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 354 confirmed cases and 84 probable, four deaths and one probable;
Ontonagon County, 421 confirmed, 61 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 459 confirmed cases and 257 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 695 confirmed cases, 128 probable and 38 deaths; Iron County, 985 confirmed cases and 69 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,043 confirmed cases and 362 probable, 23 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,092 confirmed cases and 1,418 probable, and 28 deaths, six probable; Menominee County, 1,797 confirmed cases, 332 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,411 confirmed cases and 344 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,534 confirmed cases, 607 probable, 35 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,345 confirmed cases and 712 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,260 confirmed cases, 827 probable and 62 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Tuesday posted 173 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 894,433. The state Tuesday had 32 new deaths attributed to the virus — including 27 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing — to reach 19,744.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Tuesday had only one new confirmed positive, in Marinette County.

As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin on Tuesday added 100 new positives for a total of 612,732 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 17 new deaths Tuesday to reach 7,306.
