State lists four new virus cases in Iron County

State data Friday indicated four new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Iron County.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website since the last update Tuesday also added six new cases in Chippewa County; five in Gogebic County; two in Marquette County; and one each in Menominee, Ontonagon and Mackinac counties; Dickinson County’s count was reduced by one.

Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 20,126 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 443 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Friday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 226 confirmed cases and 255 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 323 confirmed, 196 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 354 confirmed cases and 84 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 422 confirmed, 61 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 459 confirmed cases and 256 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 695 confirmed cases, 128 probable and 39 deaths; Iron County, 989 confirmed cases and 69 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,053 confirmed cases and 363 probable, 23 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,102 confirmed cases and 1,422 probable, and 28 deaths, six probable; Menominee County, 1,803 confirmed cases, 330 probable and 42 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,413 confirmed cases and 344 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,536 confirmed cases, 607 probable, 35 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,345 confirmed cases and 712 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,264 confirmed cases, 827 probable and 63 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated regularly but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday added 672 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since its last update Tuesday for a total to date of 896,067. The state Friday had 26 new deaths over the three days attributed to the virus — including 18 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing — to reach 19,801.

The state last week began posting new COVID data only twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday listed only one new confirmed positive, in Iron County.

The DHS COVID-19 data site Friday had Marinette County with 4,236 confirmed cases, 477 probable cases and 67 deaths, six probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,297 confirmed, 149 probable and 42 deaths, three probable; Forest County, 966 confirmed, 81 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 589 confirmed, 120 probable and 21 deaths, 20 probable; and Florence County, 454 confirmed, 55 probable and 14 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated regularly but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin on Friday had 115 new positives for a total of 613,599 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state has recorded 21 new deaths to reach 7,356.

Wisconsin no longer updates its coronavirus numbers on weekends.
