Ten students from the DIISD Technical Education Welding classes, led by instructors Andrew Paulsen and Jay Jezylo, qualified to compete in the Skills USA State of Michigan Competition in Grand Rapids, Mich. Tech Center students represented the U.P. earning some of the highest awards while competing against top-notch welders across the State. Pictured are the students who earned scholarships to the Ohio Technical College: Instructor Andrew Paulsen, Brandon Wilcox first in TIG earning $10,000, Keaton Erickson, second in MIG earning $7,500, and Cole Meyer, third in MIG earning $5,000. Qualifying students not pictured include: Ricky Holmstrom, Aden Johnston, Anthony Krans, Sawyer Hicks, Rimick Cain, Noah Jacko and Alec Henderson.
