aBarn Cat Buddies offers spaying and neutering

2 min read

IRON MOUNTAIN -Barn Cat Buddies and Babies, a local volunteer association, wishes to remind the community of one of the program’s services – reducing the number of unwanted cats in the community by encouraging spaying and neutering of cats. Spaying or neutering is the best way to reduce over breeding.

As part of this effort, Barn Cat Buddies and Babies will spay a mother cat at no or reduced cost to the owner in return for receiving that cat’s litter of kittens. The kittens are placed in loving and experienced foster homes until they can be adopted. Then, after they are spayed or neutered, they are placed for adoption with carefully screened forever families.

People interested in more information or who may have a female cat eligible for spaying can ask to join the Barncat Buddies and Babies Facebook Group and post their inquiries. They can be reached via email at barncatbuds@outlook.com.

In addition to their kitten adoption program, they work with local farms to spay and neuter any feral or barn cats at the farm. Farm (barn) cats provide a valuable service on farms by reducing the rodent population. Sterilizing these cats serves to keep the farm’s cat population under control.

People wishing to donate to the program can do so using the YouCaring crowd funding site at www.youcaring.com/barncatbuddies. All funds, whether from donations or kitten adoption fees, are used for care of the cats in the Program. No individual receives any compensation from the program except for food and supplies for the kittens and cats in their care.
