KINGSFORD – The 24th Great Eight Winter Games will be held in the local area Saturday with opening ceremonies starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Kingsford Middle School Gym.

The games are coordinated by the school districts of Florence, Forest Park, Iron Mountain, Kingsford, Niagara, North Dickinson, Norway-Vulcan and West Iron.

Competition during the games includes events for grades 4-8 in archery, bowling, chess, skiing and snowboarding. Basketball is open to 4th and 5th grade boys and girls and students in grades 6-8 can participate in girls volleyball or boys dodgeball.
