Man arrested after meth lab found in apartment

IRON MOUNTAIN — One person was arrested after authorities found an active methamphetamine lab Wednesday in an apartment complex on U.S. 2 just north of Iron Mountain.

A detective lieutenant with the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department was helping the Michigan Department of Corrections with a parole visit at one of the apartments at N3976 U.S. 2 about 2 p.m. when they discovered the lab in a closet, according to a press release issued Thursday by the sheriff’s department.

They obtained a search warrant to confirm the lab and then contacted the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team for disposal services.

Authorities arrested a man on a parole detainer and will submit a report to the Dickinson County Prosecutor’s Office for additional charges, according to the release.
