SAGOLA — The Louisiana Pacific plant in Sagola had some damage to its roof and electrical equipment after a fire in the press room Thursday afternoon, Sagola Township Assistant Fire Chief Rand Hruska said.

No one was hurt in the incident, he noted.

Firefighters believe a spark from a smoke stack got in between the roof layers and ignited sawdust and insulation about 1:43 p.m.

The mill fire squad controlled the fire, but it still was in the walls and roof, Hruska said. Firefighters used a large crane with a man cage to access the roof and extinguish the rest of the fire, he added.

Firefighters returned to the station at 6:11 p.m. Breitung Township firefighters and STAR Ambulance assisted Sagola.
