IRON MOUNTAIN — With twice as many breweries expected to participate, Iron Mountain’s downtown should be “hop’ping” Saturday with beer enthusiasts for the second annual Brew Fest.
Those with a taste for craft beer also can expect live music by Local Brew, barbecue pulled pork by Smokler’s food truck and a wide variety of specialty beers. The event will be 1 to 6 p.m. in the area across from the Dickinson County Library, 401 Iron Mountain St.
“We are excited to kick off a summer full of downtown events. When you attend a DDA event like Brew Fest, you are not only enjoying a great event, but you are investing in the future of downtown Iron Mountain,” said Paula Craven, Downtown Development Authority program director.
A total of 52 beers will be featured from a dozen breweries: Barrel + Beam Brewery, Blackrocks Brewery, Bell’s Brewery, Beard’s Brewery, Cognition Brewing Company, Ore Dock Brewing Company, Upper Hand Brewery, Keweenaw Brewing Company, Tripleroot Brewery, Marquette Home Brewers, Spoetzl Brewery-Shiner Beers, and Founders Brewing Company.
“We are also proud to offer a designated driver ticket for $10, to encourage responsible drinking,” Craven added.
To ensure a high-quality event, attendance will be capped at 500 people and the entrance gate will close when tickets sell out. Almost 400 people attended last year’s event.
Tickets are available online until Friday for $35 for ages 21 and older. Prices increase Saturday to $40 at the gate. Ticket purchases include admission, 12 drink tokens and a commemorative beer-tasting glass.
“All of the proceeds go towards beautification, historic preservation, building grants, and other efforts to create a vibrant downtown,” Craven said.

Sponsors for this year’s Brew Fest include First National Bank and Trust, Dickinson County Tourism, 41 Lumber, Northwoods Manufacturing, River Valley Bank and Radio Now.
