Fill the boot campaign planned

Again this year, the Iron Mountain Fire Department will be a major part of the fundraising efforts for the July 4th fireworks program. Firefighters will be walking the parade route with their Fill the Boot campaign to accept donations from parade onlookers to help defray the costs of the fireworks display, which is entirely paid by donations. Fireworks program chairman Michael Laydon said he is grateful to the department for their continued support. Laydon also said that no other parade participants accepting donations are collecting for the community fireworks program, which is truly an Independence Day tradition. From left are Jeff Friedenstab, deputy director of fire; Nate Furton, firefighter; Randy Lap, EMT and firefighter; and Jim Owen, engineer.
