Kingsford students awarded scholarships
KINGSFORD – The Dickinson Area Community Foundation awarded $42,480 in scholarship money to graduates of Kingsford High School this year.
The scholarships given out at the Kingsford High School 2018 Scholarship Banquet included:
Gus K. Newberg Scholarship: An $8,000 scholarship for students entering the field of engineering or architecture was awarded to Logan Drake.
Anne Look Scholarship: A $6,000 scholarship for students pursuing a degree in education was awarded to Viola Warden.
Mildred Hagerup Nursing Scholarship: A $4,000 scholarship for students pursuing a degree in nursing was awarded to Kaitlynn Erickson.
Robert Forgette Scholarship: A $4,000 scholarship for students pursuing a degree in business was awarded to Ethan LaVarnway.
Lenore Moore Gibson: An $880 scholarship for students pursuing a degree in library science or nursing was awarded to Samantha Cross.
Thornberry Family Scholarship: A $500 scholarship was awarded to Avery Streckert.
Ron Caviani Scholarship: A $500 scholarship for students that will be participating in a university sponsored performing ensemble was awarded to Dominic Occhietti.
Kingsford High School Scholarship: A $4,000 scholarship for students who pursue a degree in the medical sciences was awarded to Nickolas McCole, Kendra Nora and Maya Schwamlien.
Bill Baciak Memorial Scholarship: A $500 scholarship for students who are planning on attending a vocation/technical school in mechanical, electrical or industrial mechanics was awarded to Preston Strong.
Golden K Scholarship: A $1,000 scholarship for students who are attending Bay de Noc Community College was awarded to Arika Wickman.
Association of Student Artists Scholarship: A $600 scholarship for students pursuing a degree in art was awarded to Makayla Kirby.
Carolee Dodge Francis Youth Community Service Scholarship: A $250 scholarship for students for their community service and volunteerism was awarded to Mitchell Wiltzius.
Oliver-Sullivan Aviation Scholarship: A $1,000 scholarship for students entering an aviation field was awarded to Luke Harry.
Waves Memorial Swim Scholarship: A $250 scholarship for students that have participated on a high school or local YMCA swim team was awarded to Hailey Johnson.
