Felch Township Board authorizes property tax rate
By Daily News staff
FELCH TOWNSHIP — The Felch Township Board has authorized a 2018 property tax rate of 1.2913 mills, or $1.29 per $1,000 of taxable value, plus .5 mills for ambulance service.
The township forwarded that rate to Dickinson County officials to be placed on file. The expense for ambulance is shared with West Branch and Breen townships.
In other business, the board earlier this month:
— Heard the township will end accepting used passenger vehicle tires at its solid waste disposal site, as it is close to using up the $4,000 Scrap Tire Cleanup Grant secured earlier this year from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to dispose of worn tires at no cost. Other Dickinson County communities, such as Iron Mountain and Breitung Township, also gained scrap tire grants this year.
— Still needs a sexton for the township cemetery, though officials noted regular maintenance work such as mowing is being done at the site. The sexton, however, keeps the records and other paperwork.
