ISD to host substitute teachers program Monday

Teachers and classroom aides needed for Early Childhood, Special Education and Technical Education

KINGSFORD – The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District is actively seeking substitute teachers and classroom aides for its Early Childhood, Special Education and Technical Education classrooms.

On Monday, the DIISD will host a “Sub Expo” to help potential applicants learn what is expected of substitute teachers and aides in each of the various programs.

Classroom staff and administration will be on hand to discuss what to expect as a substitute teacher or classroom aide as well as answer questions.

The Sub Expo will begin promptly at 4 p.m.with an informational session highlighting each program, as well as general guidelines for substitute teachers and aides. At 5 p.m., a representative from Professional Educational Services Group, the third-party company that hires substitute teachers for the DIISD, will be available to assist with the preliminary application process, as well as explain the requirements and steps to complete the application process.

Substitute teachers must have 60 college credits or an associate’s degree from an accredited college, university or community college.

Substitute classroom aides are required to have a high school diploma or GED.

The Sub Expo will take place in Conference Room A of the DIISD administrative building, 1074 Pyle Drive in Kingsford.

Pizza, refreshments and child care will be available. RSVPs are required by noon Monday to be entered into a special drawing and to request child care.

All attendees, including walk-ins, will be entered into a general drawing at the conclusion of the informational session. Those attendees who begin the application process will be eligible for the final drawing at the conclusion of the PESG presentation. Those entered must be present to win any of the drawings.

To RSVP, provide a full name and the ages of any children needing child care either by calling 906-779-2690 or sending an email to pdeyaert@diisd.org.
