Soggy autumn so far
The Menominee River boat landing near Riverside Park in Kingsford already was under water by Tuesday afternoon as heavy rains moved into the region. A flood watch for the Upper Peninsula’s central and western counties, including Dickinson and Iron, continues through 7 p.m. Central time today. Although Dickinson and Iron Counties saw only a half an inch of rain overnight, National Weather Service meteorologist Jordan Wendt in Marquette said the region has seen above-average rainfall so far this month. “Right here at the office, it’s been an inch above normal and in Negaunee about five inches above normal,” he said. “We kind of have a consistant low pattern of winds coming from the south bringing moisture ahead of the system.”
