IRON MOUNTAIN — A quarter-century ago, the Larson girls from the east side of Iron Mountain — now Linnea Marchetti, Kristine Cohodes and Karen Cerasoli — started a business out of their homes.

The original concept was providing flowers biweekly for local business lobby and reception areas.

As the business grew, they secured a brick-and-mortar store at 313 S. Stephenson Ave. in downtown Iron Mountain and added a fourth sister to the team, Vicki Faust.

“Being downtown Iron Mountain was important to us. A lot has changed over the last 25 years, and we’re excited to be part of the redevelopment to our downtown,” co-owner Marchetti said. “We appreciate the support from the Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority and all of our loyal customers over the years.”

Today, Linnea & Kristine provides full-service floral offerings — bridal, funeral, holiday, business or for every day — along with unique gifts.

“Fresh flowers have a place in every home. They don’t need to be for special occasions. As we move into the dark, cold winter months, a few fresh flowers can help brighten a space,” said Cerasoli, senior floral designer and co-owner.

The sisters have focused on handcrafted items with a Scandinavian flair, a nod to their Swedish heritage. The shop features gifts, books and cards for all occasions, including baby, wedding, and hostess gifts from brands such as Jellycat, Vance Kitira, Ekelund linens, the Republic of Tea, Kitras glass, and Gurgle pots.

“Our philosophy has always been to create inviting and cozy spaces with hand-picked items we have in our own homes,” said Cohodes, merchandising director. “That’s what you’ll find in the shop.”

The shop also has hosted Third Thursday evening pop-up shops, to add excitement to downtown.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Linnea & Kristine will “cue the confetti” with a 12 Days of Christmas event starting Saturday. Each day will have a different item with 25 percent off. Customers and visitors can enter to win a grand prize drawing at an open house event on Thursday, Dec. 13 with refreshments. The shop will be open until 8 p.m. that day.
