Pedestrian hit, IR man arrested

IRON RIVER — A 26-year-old Iron River man has been arrested after reportedly hitting a pedestrian while driving on U.S. 2 west of Iron River and then leaving the site early Thursday.

The suspect was stopped at 1:40 a.m. on U.S. 2 in Iron River for erratic driving, according to state police from the Iron Mountain post. During the stop, Iron County Central Dispatch told troopers the vehicle matched the description of one that reportedly had struck a 40-year-old woman west of Iron River.

The driver was arrested for operating while impaired and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. The woman was transported to Aspirus Iron River Hospital for her injuries.

Assisting were the Iron County Sheriff Department and Aspirus Ambulance.
