Dickinson, Iron counties under winter storm warning
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning until 2 a.m. Central time Wednesday for Dickinson and Iron counties.
Light snow will begin by today’s evening commute, then increase through the evening before tapering off after midnight, according to the NWS office in Marquette. Snowfall rates in the heavier band of snow could exceed 1 inch per hour for a few hours beginning late this evening. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches expected.
The heaviest snow will occur in a very narrow band, so it is likely not all locations in
Dickinson and Iron counties will see higher snowfall totals, the NWS stated in the warning.
